Ojibwe Word of the Day
Niizh
(neezh)
Meaning: Two
1. Girls’ Rugby will have our next practice tomorrow (Thursday, March 26th) after school. Reminder that you have to attend a certain number of practices before you are allowed to play in a game.
2. Remembrance Day of the Victims of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. The International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade is a time for reflection. But it is also a time for education. Despite myths to the contrary, enslaved Africans enriched the Americas not just through their labour but also through a transfer of vital skills and knowledge. In addition, rather than accepting their fate, they engaged in powerful acts of resistance. This year’s theme, Justice in Action, calls on the global community to confront this history with honesty and to acknowledge its enduring impact.
