1.       Irish Heritage Month – March is recognized as Irish Heritage Month in Canada, a time to celebrate the nearly 4.6 million Canadians with Irish ancestry and their contributions to our country’s development.  Officially designated by the House of Commons in 2022, this month highlights the history, culture, and resilience of Irish immigrants who have shaped Canada since the 17th century.

2.      The Baha’I Fast – The nineteen-day fast is a period of the year during which members of the Baha’I faith adhere to a sunrise-to-sunset fast.  Along with prayer, it is one of the greatest obligations, and its chief purpose is spiritual:  to reinvigorate the soul and bring the person closer to God.  Learn more here:  https://www.bahai.org/beliefs/life-spirit/devotion/fasting

3.      Tyler McGregor – is the captain of Canada’s National Para Ice Hockey Team.  His journey is an inspiring story of resilience.  After losing his leg to spindle cell sarcoma at age 15, he didn’t just return to sports – he conquered them.

Major Accomplishments:  Three-Time Paralympian, World Champion, The Sledge Skate Challenge, National Captain and Olympic Flag Bearer.  Tyler’s story reminds us all that challenges are just opportunities for a great comeback.  Let’s carry that same “never quit” energy into our hallways today!

4.      Anyone interested in joining Key Club?  We will be having a meeting today at the beginning of lunch.  We will be discussing our next Minute to Win IT event that will take place today and tomorrow.  This is a great opportunity for you to earn some of your community service hours that are required for graduation, so don’t miss out!  New members are always welcome!

5.      Key Club – Minute to Win it Event – Key Club members will be around today during last period to explain the details about this event.  They will be around tomorrow during third period to collect any donations.  Fill your pockets with change!  This semester we’re going to support the Canadian War Amps Foundation in honour of our very own Alumni, Tyler McGregor,   The Paralympic Games start tomorrow, so don’t forget to cheer him on!

6.      Who Wants Chocolate?!?  Headed on the 2026 International Trip?  Don’t miss the chance to help fund your travels!  See Ms. Pardo in Room 207 at lunch to pick up your Rheo Chocolate fundraising kit.  Love Chocolate?  Support our students and treat yourself to some amazing Rheo Chocolate.  Orders will be delivered before Easter – find a trip participant to place your order! 

7.      This year’s Muskoka Woods Trip will be the second week of April.  Please get your leader application forms in by the end of the day!   Please see Mrs. Sanders with any questions.

8.     Anyone interested in joining the Relay for Life Committee to help plan for Relay and Relay Rally should see Mrs. Sanders.

9.      Students in grade 10, we are looking for someone to go to the HOBY Youth Leadership conference April 30-May 3rd.  See Mrs. Petrus for more info!   Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership organization’s mission is to motivate and empower individuals to make a positive difference within our global society through understanding and action, based on effective and compassionate leadership.

10. Optimist Basketball – Attention all students for volunteer hours and like to play basketball.  The Optimist Club is running their annual basketball camps starting Monday, March 23.  The Grade 7-8’s will be on Monday nights and the Grade 5-6’s will be on Thursday nights.  Helpers are needed for both groups.  Please see the sign up sheet outside the Boys’ Phys.
