The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) is inviting secondary students to step into the spotlight as part of its new School Ambassador Program, an exciting initiative designed to showcase the vibrant life and learning happening in LKDSB schools.
Beginning this December, LKDSB will select a team of student ambassadors from each secondary school to serve as official digital storytellers for their school communities. These ambassadors will capture authentic student experiences through photos and short video clips, culminating in a collaborative promotional video that highlights what makes their school unique. The videos will be shared with students and families in LKDSB feeder schools, offering a genuine glimpse into secondary school life.
“This program has the opportunity to empower students to tell their own stories,” said Gary Girardi, LKDSB Director of Education. “We have incredibly talented students and wonderful things happening in our schools every day. This initiative gives students real, in-the-field mentorship while allowing them to create something from their unique student lens.”
Throughout the process, ambassadors will receive guidance from LKDSB staff and alumni professionals, gaining hands-on experience in media creation and leadership. The year will conclude with a Film Festival and Student Dinner in June, where ambassadors’ work will be celebrated in front of families, local leaders, and district staff.
This is the first year of what LKDSB plans to make an annual program, led by the LKDSB Student Senate with support from the Director’s Office and Secondary Program.
Students interested in applying can complete the online application form between December 1 and December 15 at www.LKDSB.net/SchoolAmbassador
