1) Jr and Sr Girls volleyball tryouts begin on Wednesday and Thursday at lunch, and then the following Monday, November 24th after school. Please sign up outside of the girls’ change room if you are interested in trying out. If you have any questions, please speak to Mr. Eberlin or Mrs. Cundick.
2) The Holiday Food Drive is starting today! Key Club members will be around during period A to collect items for the food drive. Classes are encouraged to work as a team to bring in the most items. The winning class will win a pizza party! So don’t miss out! (Mrs. Hoskin)
Items will be based on a point system:
4 points – Peanut butter (2 Kg), baby products, etc
3 points – Peanut butter (1 kg), hygiene (toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, etc)
2 points – Pasta sauces, pasta noodles, popcorn, condiments (ketchup, mustard), etc.
1 point – Canned good, Mr. Noodles, kraft dinner, etc.
Yet only four percent of Canadians donate.
There will be a Blood Donation Drive on Dec. 9 at the Forest Legion. If you are interested, please speak to Mr. MacDougall to find out how to register.
4)Drama Club will meet Thursday at lunch.
Get your ideas for the Variety Show finalized so we can pick a theme for the event.
5) Hockey practices continue this week. Girls’ practice is Tuesday from 3-4. Boys practice is Wednesday from 3-4. Also, the Boys and Girls hockey teams are looking for scorekeepers for our home games. Games would be on Tuesdays from 3-4:30. Please, see Mr. Wilson if you are interested.
6) The chess club will meet Wednesday, November 26th and Friday, November 28th in Room 184. Please download a chess clock on your phone. That way we can play timed matches and still have time to eat our lunches. We will be recording WINS and LOSSES to create a ranking system. Players can CHALLENGE to gain higher ranks. This will be a fun way to keep things “spicy”.
7) The Eagle cup is back up for grabs! Intramural 4 on 4 floor ball begins next week in the gym at lunch. If you are interested in playing, sign up with your team of up to 7 people on the whiteboard in the gym next to the boys’ change room. Sign up fast, there’s only room for 8 teams!
8) Junior boys are reminded that the final tryout for the Junior Boys’ Basketball team will be tomorrow, Tuesday, November 25th at 2:30. If you can’t make it see Mr. Willemse or Mrs. Sanders.
10)Saturday your Eagles participated in their first tournament of the year. A great day had by all. Bronze medals for: Alexia C, Bailey D, Cicada G, Jocelyn M and Nerissa P. Silver medal for: Peyton S, Gold medal for Nola H. Great effort by all!
