The time has come to finally retire our small playground structure and replace it with a new, safe and fun playground structure. Our small playground structure currently consists of a set of stairs and a slide. This structure is rated for safety for our youngest students, aged 3-5 years old. Our large structure is rated for safety for students aged 6 years old and up. This means that our littlest East Lambton Lions only have a slide that they can safely use.
It is interesting to note that this old playground structure was actually moved over from the original Watford Public School site back in 2000 when East Lambton Elementary was created. At that time, it had already experienced many, many years of playground adventures - we are certain there are decades of stories it could tell! It is now time to start a new story with a brand new, safe and exciting playground!
Playground structures are important to the development of our learners. They provide a safe place to practice risk taking skills, they help to build confidence and self esteem and they provide a place for physical, social and emotional energy release. Our littlest East Lambton Lions need and deserve to practice these skills, as well as gross motor skills like climbing, hanging, jumping and balancing, in a safe Environment specifically designed and rated for their age.
We have a goal of raising $50,000 to replace the playground structure with a new and creative system.
We are seeking assistance from you, our community, in the form of financial donations. You play an important role in the success of our community. The East Lambton Lions could not do what we do without the support of this great community!
Please note that any donations over $25 will be issued a charitable tax receipt from the Lambton Kent District School Board.
If you have any questions or would like to know more about how you can support our East Lambton Lions, please feel free to reach out to us at the school. We can’t wait to hear from you and we thank you in advance for your generous support of our East Lambton Lions!
