The starter’s horn sounded at Great Lakes Secondary School—and with it, a new LKDSB tradition was born.
For the first time, 531 elementary student athletes from across our entire bard came together for a unified Track & Field Meet— with representation stretching from Wheatley to Grand Bend.
From powerful sprints to soaring jumps and electrifying relays, the day was filled with determination, sportsmanship, and unforgettable moments. Even more impactful? Students competing alongside peers they’d never met before, building connections that reached far beyond the finish line.
This wasn’t just a meet—it was the beginning of something bigger for LKDSB students.

📱 Caught in the Net: Parent Session on Online Safety
What’s really happening online when our kids scroll, post, and chat?
Parents/Guardians are invited to attend “Caught in the Net,” a free 90‑minute workshop covering cyberbullying, sexting and the law, social media safety, online risks, digital boundaries, self‑esteem, and consent on May 6th 6:30-8:00pm at AA Wright PS.
🍕 Free pizza & refreshments provided thanks to Parent Council.

Today Paralympian Zach Lavin visited our school and shared his story of resilience. He spoke to us the power of a growth mindset and hard work as he shared his journey that led him to sledge hockey. We will be cheering Zach and his teammates on! Go CANADA 🇨🇦
