​Dear Parents/Guardians,

This letter is to notify you of an incident that occurred on Thursday, February 20, 2020.

At approximately 12:10 p.m., a fire occurred in a second-floor washroom at Chatham Kent Secondary School. All students and staff were safely evacuated to an alternate emergency evacuation location. The fire, which was contained to the washroom area, was extinguished and Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services cleared the building for re-entry at approximately 1:20 p.m.

Student and staff safety are a top priority for the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB). The LKDSB appreciates the cooperation of staff in following the proper protocols to safely remove students from the area.

The LKDSB continues to cooperate with the Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services to determine the cause of the fire.
