As always, the priority for our school community remains the safety and well-being of all students and staff. For your awareness, an announcement will be made this morning to acknowledge the incident that happened last week.
On Thursday evening, concerns were raised regarding a potential threat against the school. As a precaution, and based on the advice of the Chatham-Kent Police Service, LKDSB Senior Administration decided to close the school to students last Friday. Chatham-Kent Police Service continue to investigate. At this time, they do not believe there is an imminent threat to public safety. To assist students with transitioning back to school today and to reassure their safety, police will have a presence in the building.
We recognize that learning about this potential threat may have caused some uncertainty or been a stressful experience for students. We are encouraging students to reach out to a trusted staff member to share their thoughts and concerns. Please also know that members from the LKDSB's Psychology department are on-site today to offer counselling supports, as needed.
We will continue to work closely with Chatham-Kent Police Service to ensure a safe learning environment for everyone.
Should you have any further questions, please contact the school or the Chatham-Kent Police Service.
