Students attending the consolidated Tecumseh Public School in September 2018 will be known as the ‘Timberwolves.’ The new mascot for the consolidated school was revealed at the February 28, 2018 Transition Committee Meeting.
The Traditions and Identity sub-committee solicited input from John N. Given Public School and Tecumseh Public School students and staff, as well as received input from the Lambton Kent District School Board’s Indigenous Education team.
Moving forward, students at both schools have been invited to provide input on the design of the school logo and the official logo will be created by a local graphic design company. The school colours are still to be determined.
“Students and staff at John N. Given Public School and Tecumseh Public School have been working together throughout the year to develop relationships and bridge the transition to the consolidated school in September 2018. Choosing the ‘Timberwolves’ mascot is the next step in continuing to develop a unified identity for the consolidated school community,” said Director Jim Costello.
The logo will be incorporated in the school branding, including signage, athletic uniforms, spirit wear, website and social media accounts. As well, a visual representation of the logo will be integrated into the Tecumseh Public School site. Athletic uniforms branded with the new logo are expected to be available for the 2018-2019 school year.
