The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) is participating in Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week November 21-25, 2022 to help promote safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environments.

During this week, students, staff and families are encouraged to learn more about bullying and its effect on student learning and well-being. Bullying is typically a form of repeated, persistent, and aggressive behaviour between individuals. There are several different forms of bullying – physical, verbal, social and electronic. This behavior compromises the overall school climate and has a negative impact on a student's well-being and ability to learn.

LKDSB schools, with support from the Safe Schools and Multi-Disciplinary teams, participate in activities to promote bullying awareness and prevention throughout the school year. Schools display positive messaging in classrooms and public spaces, and host assemblies focused on anti-bullying.

"The LKDSB is committed to ensuring all students, staff, families and visitors feel safe and welcome in our schools and workplaces," said Director John Howitt. "Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week is an opportunity to increase awareness and understanding of the different forms of bullying and reminders about prevention strategies and reporting."

To report bullying, students are encouraged to share information with a caring adult at home or at school. Families and students are also able to share concerns using the Student Wellness and Bullying Intervention Hotline at each school.
