June 08, 2022

In consultation with the Sarnia Police Service, the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) has decided to close Northern Collegiate Institute & Vocational School to in-person learning to students on Thursday, June 9, 2022 due to concerns about disturbing messaging found at the school. All classes will move to a virtual learning format for Thursday, June 9, 2022.

Concerns were raised regarding disturbing messaging found at the school at the end of the day on Wednesday, June 8, 2022.

LKDSB Senior Administration has decided to close the school on Thursday to allow police to investigate the incident.

The disturbing messaging was specific to the NCIVS site and the concern does not extend to any other schools in the area.

“Student and staff safety are a top priority for the LKDSB and we work with local police to determine the appropriate actions to ensure school safety," said Director John Howitt.

The LKDSB will continue to keep the school community updated regarding this issue. Please visit the school or LKDSB websites (www.lkdsb.net) for the most up-to-date information.
