Update Regarding Provincial Stay-at-Home Order Extension and Schools

May 13, 2021
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

Today, the Ontario government announced an extension of the provincial Stay-at-Home Order to address the COVID-19 pandemic to June 2, 2021.

At this time, Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) elementary and secondary students are expected to continue with remote, teacher-led learning as previously outlined. The provincial government said data will continue to be assessed and medical experts, including the Chief Medical Officer of Health, and other health officials will be consulted to determine if it may be safe to resume in-person learning.

LKDSB Virtual Learn at Home schools will continue to operate on their regular schedule.

Read the provincial government announcement here.

This decision is a proactive measure by the Government of Ontario to support the health and well-being of Ontarians. The health and safety of our students and staff is a top priority for the LKDSB. We are confident all staff will continue to focus on promoting student success and well-being.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child, including inquiries about supports for students’ mental health and well-being, please reach out to your school as messages are checked regularly.

Together, we will continue to support the health of our communities and support student achievement and well-being.

Sincerely,
John Howitt
Director of Education
