Education Week 2022

We invite you to visit our schools as they celebrate Education Week May 2-6, 2022.

Education Week Message from Director John Howitt

The Ministry of Education has declared the week of May 2-6, 2022 as Education Week across Ontario. The Lambton Kent District School Board’s (LKDSB) theme for this year’s celebration is:

Connecting Communities

Throughout the past two years and with the many transitions and challenges that students, staff and families have endured throughout the pandemic, along with many other social and economic factors which have and continue to impact many of us, we invite our schools to intentionally focus on opportunities for connecting with the communities they serve. The LKDSB is committed to its Strategic Priorities of “Trusting Relationships: Strengthen relationships based on respectful collaboration” and “Inclusive Diversity: Champion anti-oppressive education.” We know that healthy, safe and inclusive communities contribute to safe, healthy and welcoming schools. Through events and activities held during Education Week (May 2-6, 2022), we will be providing opportunities to re-engage with our school communities. We know that supporting a student’s success in education and their well-being is a community effort. Together, through connecting with communities, we will build on existing relationships and further create safe, healthy and inclusive schools.

We also encourage you to refamiliarize yourself with information and resources available through the Parent/Guardian Resources, Indigenous Education, Equity and Inclusive Education, Mental Health and Well-being websites or contact your child’s school for additional information.

On behalf of our trustees, administrators, teachers and staff, we invite you to connect with your local school community and engage in activities throughout the school year to learn about the inclusive and supportive learning opportunities which occur in LKDSB's elementary and secondary schools every day.

Sincerely,
John Howitt
