The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) invites families in Chatham-Kent and Sarnia- Lambton to visit their local public school during the month of February to register their child for Kindergarten. Children ages four or five years old by December 31, 2020 are eligible to register to start school in September.

Registering a child for Kindergarten is an important milestone and the LKDSB is committed to supporting a smooth transition for students and families. If your child is ready for Kindergarten, registering is as easy as 1, 2, 3:

  1. Find your local public school.
  2. Complete the simple, safe and secure online registration form.
  3. Come and meet the amazing school staff.

Each LKDSB elementary school is hosting a Kindergarten registration (KinderSTARt) event throughout the month of February. Registration is held between 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and families will have an opportunity to meet with staff, learn about the Kindergarten program and tour the school. Families who miss the Kindergarten registration events in February can still register their child at any time throughout the school year.

“We know families are busy, so we offer a simple, safe and secure online registration form, which allows parents/guardians to complete paperwork in advance. When they visit the school, parents/guardians can focus on enjoying the experience with their child and building positive relationships with staff and other families," said LKDSB Director John Howitt. “We also want parents/guardians to know that February isn't the only time to register your child. If you miss the Kindergarten registration event, you can drop by your local public school at any time throughout the school year to complete the registration process."

Remember to bring: A birth certificate or proof of Canadian citizenship or residency status (if appropriate); proof of residency (e.g. utility or tax bill, lease/rental agreement, etc.); emergency contact information; and, most importantly, your child.
