LKDSB supports Welcome Week 2021

September 10, 2021

The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) is pleased to participate in the Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton Welcome Week, September 10-19, 2021.

Welcome Week is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of immigrant newcomers, to connect them with services within the respective municipalities and to promote diversity in our communities. LKDSB supports this initiative and is working with the Chatham-Kent Local Immigration Partnership and the Sarnia-Lambton Local Immigration Partnership to promote being a welcoming organization.

LKDSB schools are encouraged to highlight how they are supporting welcoming communities and creating a sense of belonging in their schools. Stories of inclusion, connection and understanding will be promoted during Welcome Week using the hashtag #WelcomingWeek2021. As well, schools in Chatham-Kent received a lawn sign stating, “Hate has no home here” and school administration staff have received Welcome to Chatham–Kent buttons.

In support of the LKDSB’s Strategic Priority of “Inclusive Diversity: Champion Anti-Oppressive education,” the LKDSB is committed to supporting safe, welcoming and inclusive learning and work environments. Together, we will continue to promote welcoming communities.
