Update regarding Nov. 13 quadmester transition day

November 03, 2020

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

We are quickly approaching the end of the first quadmester for secondary students. Although this year has been unlike any other, we appreciate the resiliency and hard work of all students and staff to adjust to this year's schedule and health and safety practices and routines for the safe reopening of schools.

To support the transition to the second quadmester and allow time for schools to prepare classrooms for the transition of students, Friday, November 13 will be a quadmester transition day and it will not be an instructional day for secondary students. As such, secondary students will not report to school on Friday, November 13, nor will Virtual Learn at Home Secondary School students be expected to log into their virtual classes on this day. The first day of the second quadmester is Monday, November 16.

Students in the ALLP program and School Within a College (SWAC) program will not be impacted by the quadmester transition day and will attend as scheduled on Friday, November 13. In addition, students participating in college-sponsored Dual Credit courses occurring on Friday, November 13 are expected to participate in those classes as scheduled.

Please note: All elementary schools will be open and elementary students will attend as scheduled on Friday, November 13.

Please visit the LKDSB website (www.lkdsb.net) regularly for up-to-date information, as well as information and resources for parents/guardians to support student success and well-being.

Sincerely,
John Howitt
Director of Education
