As you may be aware, Sept. 30 is Orange Shirt Day. On this day we honour the survivors of residential schools as well as those children and young people who never returned home. Although Sept 30 does not fall on a school day,NLSS will commemorate this day on October 3rd. Our students to will be wearing orange. As a lead up to Orange Shirt Day, we have been discussing in class and by way of morning announcements, learning and understanding about the residential school system and the impacts that system has had on First Nations, Metis, and Inuit people. We encourage you to learn more about Orange Shirt Day and its origins by visiting and sharing the following link: http://www.orangeshirtday.org
