LKDSB celebrates staff and volunteers on October 5

October 04, 2021
The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) celebrates those who dedicate their time and efforts
to support students during Staff and Volunteer Appreciation Day on Tuesday, October 5.

At the 44th Session of the International Conference on Education, a United Nations agency declared
October 5 as World Teachers’ Day. The LKDSB has expanded the focus to celebrate the contributions
of all employees and volunteers who support student achievement.

“Each member of the school community – from staff members working directly with students,
education workers supporting school and Board operations, or volunteers – is making a difference in
the lives of LKDSB students. We know that the pandemic has created many challenges, but we are
grateful for the ongoing efforts of staff and volunteers to ensure that our students receive the best
education and feel a sense of belonging in our schools,” said LKDSB Chair Randy Campbell.

“We appreciate the efforts of our staff who continuously rise to meet the needs of students and work
hard each day to create safe and engaging learning environments,” said Director John Howitt. “We are
fortunate to have volunteers in our school communities who extend the classroom learning by
contributing their knowledge and skillsets to further support student achievement and well-being.”
On October 5, all LKDSB schools are encouraged to take an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the
contributions of staff and volunteers throughout the school year. Together, we continue Fostering
Success for Every Student Every Day.
