CKSS Semester 1 Changes- Message to Parents/Guardians

January 10, 2022

Hello CKSS students and parents/guardians,

The most recent shift to online learning for January 2022 has caused a change in what the end of this semester will look like.

The first change is that the Evaluation Days at the end of the semester have been changed to Instructional Days. This means those days will follow the regular schedule of morning and afternoon classes. The updated calendar below shows the changed dates highlighted in red.

Please note there are no classes on Mon. Jan. 31 (PD Day) and Thurs Feb. 3 (Turn around Day).

The second change involves the structure of how students' final marks will be calculated.  Traditionally, the final mark would consist of 70% of the work done throughout the term, and 30% of Final Assessment evaluations. These Final Assessments could be culminating activities, projects, or exams. Due to the changes this January, students' marks will be composed of 100% term work. Teachers may choose to use Final Assessment activities as part of the term mark provided the activities give an opportunity for students to improve their term mark by demonstrating further achievement of expectations.

If students are having difficulty with course work during remote learning, they should reach out to their course teacher or Student Success for support.

Mental Wellness Support

All of our regular mental health supports are still available to students. Please contact the school if support is required.
