The Lambton Kent District School Board, St. Clair Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire catholique Providence and Conseil scolaire Viamonde, in partnership with Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School Services (CKLASS), will be launching the voluntary asymptomatic COVID-19 testing for students and school staff on Sunday, March 14 at Great Lakes Secondary School (340 Murphy Road, Sarnia) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The schedule for further locations and dates for on-site testing in Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent will be available at: https://cklass.ca/covid19_testing/
In a further effort to combat the spread of COVID-19 in our communities, the Ministry of Education has directed that voluntary asymptomatic COVID-19 testing of students and staff will be conducted in Ontario schools. The testing is also available to children and staff from childcare centres located inside schools, as well as school bus drivers.
The four school boards are taking a community approach and partnering to run asymptomatic testing, including sharing facilities and providing families with open access to locations regardless of the school board students attend.
The voluntary asymptomatic testing will be conducted by LifeLabs, the vendor contracted by the Ministry of Education and coordinated by CKLASS. Parent/guardian consent is required.
The following schools and associated child care locations will be invited to participate in the March 14 voluntary asymptomatic COVID-19 testing:
- Great Lakes Secondary School (also the testing location)
- Queen Elizabeth II Public School - Sarnia & London Bridge Child Care
- Hanna Memorial Public School & Little Friends Child Care
- Holy Trinity Catholic School & London Bridge Child Care
In addition, all eligible students, staff and children in child care centres in other Sarnia-Lambton schools of the four participating school boards are also welcome to attend. Please remember to wear a face mask and bring your child's health card.
“We look forward to the launch of the voluntary asymptomatic COVID-19 testing for students and school staff on March 14 for students and staff members. Through a community approach involving four school boards, we will be able to provide easy access to families who are interested in participating in the voluntary asymptomatic COVID-19 testing as provided by the Ministry of Education," said Kent Orr, General Manager of CLASS.
Specific information for families will be provided directly by schools. For additional details, including answers to frequently asked questions, visit the CKLASS website at: https://cklass.ca/covid19_testing/
