The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) is committed to prioritizing the safety and well-being of students and staff and we are happy to welcome students back to in-person learning at Northern Collegiate Institute & Vocational School on Monday, June 13, 2022.
On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, concerns were raised regarding disturbing messaging found at the school. As a precaution and in consultation with Sarnia Police Service, LKDSB Senior Administration decided to close the school to in-person learning on Thursday, June 9, 2022 and students transitioned to remote learning for the day. Sarnia Police Service has confirmed they do not believe there is a concern to public safety at this time and the school will reopen to students for in-person learning on Monday, June 13.
“We appreciate the efforts of the Sarnia Police Service in its investigation and the actions of school and LKDSB staff to support a safe school reopening to students on Monday, June 13," said Director John Howitt.
Members of the LKDSB Mental Health and Well-being Team will be on-site on Monday, June 13 to offer counselling supports, as needed.
We continue to work closely with Sarnia Police Service to ensure a safe learning environment for everyone.
Should you have any further questions, please contact the school or Sarnia Police Service.
