​Dear Lambton Kent District School Board Students and Families:

I am writing to inform you that a former Lambton Kent District School Board teacher, Barb Organ, pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation and has been sentenced to 75 days of incarceration and 18 months of probation.

This teacher has not been in the school since the allegations were made and is no longer employed by the LKDSB.

The LKDSB provided an update to the Ontario College of Teachers regarding this matter. Under the Protecting Students Act, 2016, Ontario teachers found guilty of professional misconduct involving sexual offences face a mandatory loss of their teaching certification.

I wanted to inform you of this update, as the LKDSB values open and transparent dialogue with its students, families and the community. Please be assured the LKDSB takes all allegations of professional misconduct seriously and is committed to providing safe and caring learning environments for its students.
