Suspect in Custody Following Series of Profane Phone Calls to Several Local Schools

November 16, 2018

Earlier this week, several LKDSB and St. Clair Catholic schools in Sarnia, in addition to a number of schools in the Windsor area, received a series of profane phone calls. In each case, the caller appeared to be the same individual.

The offensive phone calls were reported to police and an investigation was launched in cooperation with Cogeco, which is the telephone service provider for all the affected school boards.

Although the calls were highly offensive and profane, they were not believed to be a threat to the safety of the students or the staff in the schools.  Staff receiving such calls were given direction to note the exact time and report the incident immediately to police.

Late Thursday, police informed the school boards that an arrest had been made in Toronto in connection with the telephone calls and that the suspect was being brought to Sarnia to answer the charges.

Both LKDSB and St. Clair Catholic wish to thank the Sarnia Police Service for their quick response in solving this matter.  We also extend our thanks to our staff, who reacted promptly and appropriately to assist police.
