Since its inception in 2022, the “Acts of Kindness” Initiative, founded by students of the Leadership Class at Great Lakes Secondary School, has been on a mission to raise awareness about mental health and support individuals and families. This program not only highlights the importance of compassion but also works to provide tangible assistance to those who may benefit from some added light and kindness.
The Mission
The heart of the “Acts of Kindness” Initiative is simple yet powerful: "One small act of kindness can create a ripple effect far beyond our reach." While we may not be able to change the world on our own, each of us can make a difference by taking small actions that inspire others to do the same.
We believe that kindness is one of the most impactful ways to improve someone’s day — and sometimes, that one act can last a lifetime. Whether it’s a kind word, a warm smile, or lending a helping hand, you never know how much it might mean to someone going through a difficult time.

The funds raised through this initiative directly support local individuals and families facing hardships. Over the past year, these funds have helped cover the cost of essentials like rent, gas, and groceries, provided uplifting surprises to families, and offered a helping hand when needed. With each donation or act of kindness, the ripple effect grows, making a significant difference in the lives of others.
