​Trustees for the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) re-elected Randy Campbell as Chair and Janet Barnes was elected as Vice-Chair of the Board during the Annual Organization Board Meeting held on November 15, 2022.

Campbell has served as Trustee since 2006 and was elected as Board Chair in 2020-2022. He previously was named Vice-Chair in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020, after serving on various Board committees. Barnes was elected to the LKDSB in 2018 and has served on the Grievance Committee, Supervised Alternative Learning Committee, Negotiations Committee and Special Education Advisory Committee.

Campbell thanked the Trustees for their ongoing support and expressed an ongoing commitment to supporting student achievement and well-being. He also acknowledges the challenges ahead for Trustees to reinforce the sustainability of the Board in regard to enrolment, finances, capital pressures due to aging facilities and supporting safe and welcoming schools and workplaces.

“Throughout the past few years, we have seen incredible efforts by LKDSB administration and system leaders, as well as educators, education workers and student transportation to supporting student and the safe operation of schools," said Campbell. “It is important to always put our students first in decision making. As we move forward, we need to ensure continuity for the Board and make governance decisions that reinforce our goals as set out in the LKDSB's Strategic Priorities."

“I appreciate the support of my fellow Trustees in electing me to serve as Vice-Chair of the Board," said Barnes. “In this role, I look forward to helping support a safe operation of schools and keeping student success and well-being at the forefront of all decisions of the Board."

The November 15 Organization Meeting was also the first meeting of the newly elected Trustees and included appointments of Trustees to serve on various Board committees.
