LKDSB Congratulates 2022 Recipients of Dr. Jack Parry and Stefanko Awards

The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) celebrates the athletic and academic achievements of the 2022 recipients of the Dr. Jack Parry Award and Stefanko Award.

The awards honour secondary student-athletes from the Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton areas, respectively, who are outstanding in their athletic and academic achievements, as well as participate in extra-curricular activities.

The following is a list of the three LKDSB award recipients and a description of their accomplishments:

Anna Kistulinec, Blenheim District High School – 
Anna is an outstanding student who has proven to be a leader in her academics and athletics. She is an exemplary student who also maintains a commitment to volunteering in her school and community. She has served as the Parent Council student representative and Co-Prime Minister for the school. Anna has been involved in athletics throughout her secondary school career, including basketball, rugby, track and field and volleyball, competing at the local, regional and provincial levels (including a gold medal at OFSAA in pole vault). As a leader on various school teams and a cheerleader for her peers, she played an integral part ​to their successes. She will be continuing her education at the University of Alberta in a Pharmacology program.

Ayden Blain, Chatham Kent Secondary School – 
Ayden has learned the value of teamwork and is a focused, hardworking and committed leader and teammate. A student who demonstrates high academic and athletic achievement, Ayden dedicates time to supporting his community and peers, including helping younger athletes learn new skills. He has participated in many LKSSAA and SWOSSAA championships (individual and team) for hockey and track and field, and also participates in other extracurricular activities, including baseball, cross country and golf. Ayden will be studying Mechanical Engineering at Western University and continuing to compete in track and field.


​Stefanko Award

Alex Doornbosch, Great Lakes Secondary School – 
Through a strong commitment to academic achievement and collaboration, Alex has maintained honours in her courses while contributing to sports programming and supporting her peers in school. She leads by example with her work ethic participating in team sports such as basketball and volleyball, while also spending time dedicated to extracurricular activities, including working at a local horse boarding facility where she rides and trains horses. She was a three-time LKSSAA AA Champion and was named team captain of all of the school teams she played for in basketball and volleyball. Alex plans to pursue Recreation Therapy in her post-secondary education.

“We are proud of the 2022 recipients of the Dr. Jack Parry Award and Stefanko Awards,” said Director John Howitt. “These student-athletes have excelled during a challenging year due to the pandemic and stood out as leaders in their schools and communities. On behalf of the LKDSB, we wish them the best as they continue to pursue their athletic and academic aspirations.”
