The IODE Sarnia-Lambton Municipal Chapter Education Fund has grown over the years through bequests and donations from Primary IODE Chapters and members. Municipal Chapter President Helen Danby and Citizenship Officer Leila Boushy were honoured to present a cheque of $90,000 to John Howitt, Director of Education, and Bryan McKay Superintendent of Business, at the Lambton-Kent District School Board (LKDSB). This endowment will provide IODE scholarships and bursaries to LKDSB students in Lambton County for the next decade.  Students may apply through their Student Services departments at their local schools.

IODE, formerly known as the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire, has assisted families and students in the Sarnia-Lambton area since 1900. Recently, the local IODE has undergone a restructuring process. The Municipal Chapter will no longer be operating as the intermediary level. The three local primary chapters, IODE Errol Egremont Chapter, IODE Hon. Malcolm Cameron Chapter, and IODE Margaret Stokes Chapter (Petrolia) will now report directly to the provincial chapter known as the IODE Ontario Chapter.

All three local primary chapters, IODE Errol Egremont Chapter, IODE Hon. Malcolm Cameron Chapter, and IODE Margaret Stokes Chapter (Petrolia) will continue to serve the community through education and community service initiatives.
