Planning for College and University

‚ÄčCollege

In order to apply for a College program in Ontario, students use the Ontario College Application System (OCAS).  This organization works with all provincial colleges to manage applications and acceptances.

In order to prepare for the college application process, LKDSB students can utilize myBlueprint or ontariocolleges.ca to explore the programs offered at each school.

Early October the application process will open for the following post-secondary school year.  At this point, students can make an account on the ontariocolleges.ca website and begin the application process.

‚Äč
Students who have applied for College programming must wait for college acceptances to arrive.  These will be based on marks sent to OCAS by the school board.  Early acceptances may begin to arrive once these marks have been received, sometimes as early as the new year, others as late as mid spring.

**Please note:  due to COVID, some of the normal procedures may be altered...these details can be reviewed directly on the ontariocolleges.ca website.

University

In order to apply for a university program in Ontario, students use the Ontario University Application Centre (OUAC).  This organization works with all provincial universities to manage applications and acceptances.  Ontario born students from ontario secondary schools apply as a 101 applicant.  Other students not born in Ontario or not attending Ontario secondary institutions may need to apply with a different application process as outlined on their website.

In order to prepare for the university application process, LKDSB students can utilize myBlueprint ‚Äčor the Ontario Universities website to explore the programs offered at each school.

Early October, secondary schools will flag potential university eligible students in our Student Information System and send this list to OUAC.  OUAC will then create pin numbers for eligible students and late November/Early December pins will be distributed to students.

Mid December - early January, students can use their pin numbers to create accounts with OUAC and can begin their university application process.  Applications are due early January and marks are transmitted from the school boards at various times throughout the school year.

Students who have applied for University programming must wait for university acceptances to arrive.  These will be based on marks sent to OUAC by the school board.  Early acceptances may begin to arrive once these marks have been received.  By mid-late May, acceptances will be sent out to all potential students.  Students are usually required to accept their program of choice by early June.
