1. What is the LKDSB Virtual Campus?

The LKDSB Virtual Campus is a learning environment where students can obtain secondary school credits on line.  Courses delivered in the Virtual Campus are taught by certified teachers who deliver high quality engaging curriculum.  The Virtual Campus is designed to meet the needs of learners who are unable to access the courses they need in traditional classroom settings.

2. What is e-Learning?  

Using new technologies, e-Learning gives students flexible opportunities to obtain secondary school credits in an environment that is not time or space dependent.  Students receive their lessons, interact with their teacher and fellow classmates, and submit their assignments on line. 

3. Why is the Lambton Kent District School Board interested in e-Learning?

The Lambton Kent District School Board sees e-Learning as an exciting opportunity that will allow students greater flexibility and wider access to a range of course offerings.  e-Learning will allow the Board to better meet the diverse needs of students and school communities. 

4. What does a high quality e-Learning program look like?  

Content:

Learners will be fully engaged within an interactive electronic environment.  Learners will be provided with opportunities to demonstrate their ongoing learning throughout the course.

 Communication:

Students must have opportunities to dialogue with one another and with their instructor.  This also includes regular facilitation or monitoring by the instructor.

5. What are the benefits of e-Learning?

Individuals have the ability to learn, wherever, whenever.  True outcome based learning can be achieved as students learn at their own pace under the facilitation of an instructor.
