Character Development is the focus for the week  - "A.A. Wright Has Character".  On Monday, April 28th the entire school participates in Tribes Star Assembly and a Character Traits Scavenger Hunt.  Tuesday, April 29th will be Random Acts of Kindness Day.  Wednesday, April 30th classes engage in Co-operative Games during a common period and Thursday, May 1st the older students will teach the younger students to play sports as part of Tribes Families.  Friday, May 2nd is Favourite Hero Dress Up Day - because - "Heroes Have Character".

The 4th session of Family Night Math, a partnership with Ontario Early Years Centre and Accents to Aberarder will be held on Monday, April 28th for Kindergarten and Grade 1 students.  MacDonald's Go Active Program, a show celebrating excellence in effort and attitude takes place on Tuesday, April 29th.  On Wednesday, April 30th an environmental awareness activity, Waste Not Wednesday takes place.  The school will limit the amount of trash produced by planning ahead, diverting to recycling, etc.  The school will also hold their first Annual Science Fair.  Throughout the week they will be celebrating their efforts with Procedural Writing with a festival and display of the many levels and types of procedural writing undertaken as an entire school.  The school welcomes visitors to the school all week to see classes in action.

There will be Amateur Radio Club presentations and displays at the school on Tuesday, April 29th.  "Drumanticks", a quality, hands-on drumming experience for students in all grades takes place on Thursday, May 1st.  Fire, Tornado and Emergency Preparedness drills take place all week as part of Safe Schools.

On Tuesday, April 29th from 5:45 - 7:30 p.m. the school is planning a Parent Involvement Night.  Early Years Centre, Community Health Services, Learning Disabilities will have booths on display.  The Parent Association will be selling Cathcart Gear.  Premier Suites Software demonstration will take place in the library as well as SMARTBoards demonstrations in classrooms.  Cyberbulling and Internet Safety Presentation from Constable Mel Wright will be held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.  The school will also Celebrate Toonies for Autism, with class presentations and Toonie donations.

  On Tuesday, April 29th the school is hosting an enrichment opportunity for area schools.  The workshop will be offered by Take a Bow Productions and is called "Radio Plays".  Students will learn a variety of drama skills including voice projection, breathing techniques and character development.  At the end of the workshop, each school will receive a recording of their group's play.  On Wednesday, April 30th students will participate in Jump Rope and Shoot Hoops for Heart event.

On Monday, April 28th students at the school will be participating with students across the country in "Music Monday".  This special day is dedicated to celebrating the importance of music education.  The students will be performing "Our School".  On Wednesday, April 30th Grades 1, 2, 3 will enjoy a visit from author Jo Ellen Bogart.  The school library has several of Jo Ellen's books and the author enjoys visiting students in many parts of Canada.
