- why was this job was necessary to the settlement
- clothing worn
- family responsibilities
find supplies to recreate a costume that your character might have worn
Group

wearing your costumes, share with the class a few paragraphs describing your groups' characters and their roles in the settlement
submit written paragraphs to teacher
make a T-chart, to be posted in class, comparing each character's way of life to a similar present day character
Class
use atlases to locate and label on a world map the countries of origin and areas of settlement of the pioneers
through map study search for patterns indicating why settlement sites were chosen (ie.transportation, natural resources, terrain, climate)
compile observations from student presentations to discover the general roles and lifestyles of male and female pioneers
Conclusion
By the end of this project you will have examined the different lifestyles and roles of pioneer settlers in Upper Canada, and will have compared the lives of the pioneers to your own life.
