A parent, stepparent, grandparent or step grandparent of the recipient must be or have been previously employed with Chatham-Kent Fire Services or any predecessor or successor thereto, Chatham-Kent Police Services or Chatham-Kent EMS Paramedics. Students must be entering post-secondary in college or university. Applicants must be in graduating in their 4th year attending LKDSB, SCCDSB or Ecole secondaire catholique de Pain Court. An essay of no more than 500 words.
Submit to Student Services in time to be delivered to the Board Office by the second Friday in May. Applications must include a cover page with students personal information, secondary school and post secondary institution they will be attending. An official signed document on letterhead confirming the employment history of the parent or grandparent of the above emergency services. Essay topic: Explain what it has meant to have a parent or grandparent in emergency services and how has it inspired them. Student Services will forward to the Superintendent at LKDSB. A panel at the board level will determine the winning applicant

Completion of the Application Form and a brief written response to the four questions regarding the students’ education and career plans, work experience, extracurricular interests and volunteering activities. Completion of the Applicant Release Form. A letter of recommendation from the students’ secondary school (principal, vice-principal or guidance counsellor). Students who are pursuing post-secondary education at a recognized institution in September of 2019 who submit a video addressing one ofhte three pillars of commitment to the community. Students must be enrolled at a school in Chatham-Kent
Create a video that addresses road safety, mental health or property crimes. Students can submit one per category. The video must not contain, depict or refer to anything crude, vulgar, obscene, sexually explicit, discriminatory, offensive or illegal. The video cannot contain, depict or refer to any irresponsible behaviour, risk to personal safety or damage to property. Videos are to be no longer than 3 minutes in length. Videos will be accepted in either official language. Students must be enrolled at a school in Chatham-Kent. Videos are welcome from students who wish to work independently or in groups. Should the video be a group effort, the group must elect a principal entrant to receive the prize and the sharing of such prize shall be the sole responsibility of the group.

The Dr. Lois Pearce Composition Award is available to any student enrolled in the senior division (Grade 11 or 12) of a Lambton Kent District School Board secondary school, within the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
Any student who qualifies may submit a composition. The subject is designed to encourage senior secondary students to reflect on the status of women and the challenges they face in today’s society. The essay should explore opportunities, restrictions, responsibilities, and roles, either as a broad overview or as an in-depth analysis of one facet only. The minimum length of the essay is one thousand words; the maximum is twenty-five hundred words. The essay must have a minimum 1” margin and be double spaced. Only original work, not previously published, will be accepted. Any reference to the writing of others must be properly credited in footnotes. Each entry, to qualify, must indicate demonstrably competent writing. SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES MUST: • be submitted, via email to scholarships@lkdsb.net by June 1st of the award year; • include a cover page, clearly indicating “Dr. Lois Pearce Composition Award”, the student name, grade level and school currently attending.

Any deserving student graduating from any public secondary school operated by the former Kent County Board of Education who is studying science at a post-secondary institution in the year immediately following graduation. The recipient must normally reside within the territorial areas established for attendance at public secondary schools within the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
Applications must be submitted to the Principal of the public Secondary School from which the student graduated by June 1st of the year of graduation from secondary school. These forms may be obtained from the Student Services Office of the public Secondary Schools in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

Two deserving students graduating from any public secondary school operated by the former Kent County Board of Education (now under the jurisdiction of the Lambton Kent District School Board) who is studying Music at a post-secondary institution in the year immediately following graduation. The recipient must normally reside within the territorial areas established for attendance at public secondary schools within the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. In the selection of award recipients, preference will be given to the following criteria, in order of priority as listed:
- need for financial assistance;
- majoring in music;
- taking music as part of his/her curriculum.
Applications, with a most recent transcript of marks attached, must be submitted to the Principal of the public Secondary School from which the student graduated by June 1st of the year of graduation from secondary school.

The student must have graduated from a public secondary school under the jurisdiction of the former Kent County Board of Education.
Students may submit an application for the Frank Findlay Trust Fund Bursary each semester they are attending a post-secondary school program. Students may apply for the bursary in each year of post-secondary education but may be ineligible to receive bursaries two consecutive years in a row (depending upon the number of applications received and funds available). A most recent transcript of marks MUST be attached to this application before it is submitted for consideration.
Students must forward the completed application to the Principal of the public secondary school from which they graduated. Principals are then asked to confirm the student’s graduation from the school by signing the form and return it to the student or forward it to scholarships@lkdsb.net

Howard Mutual Foundation Scholarships are awarded each year to students embarking for their first time upon a formal full-time program of post-secondary studies. The scholarships are made available to students who have made a positive contribution to the community through their volunteer work at schools or in recognized clubs or service institutions. Each year three scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded and the recipients will be recognized publicly. Applicants must reside in Ward 3 (East Kent), or attend RDHS.

The Kent Federation of Agriculture (KFA) is again offering two scholarship opportunities. Each scholarship will be for $1,000 and recipients must be from the family of a KFA member. There are approximately 1,900 KFA members in Chatham-Kent. A KFA member is an OFA member who lives in Chatham-Kent. The scholarships are for students entering or continuing their post-secondary education in an agriculture related program.

Please share your thoughts on the following question in a format that best suits your skills and interests ( ie. essay of approximately 750 words, video, presentation, artwork, etc.). “ North Kent Mutual Insurance has been serving our local communities for over one hundred years. What does the statement “shop locally” mean to you ? How and who benefits from shopping locally?” Award winners will be required to provide proof of enrolment from the Registrar’s office in a full time post-secondary educational program prior to scholarship funds being released. Award winners will be required to provide their social insurance number (SIN) for tax purposes. Scholarship award winners will be notified by November 1st.
