The Lambton Kent District School Board is pleased to offer senior students who qualify the opportunity to enrol in college level courses which will provide them with both a college credit and high school credit upon completion. This unique arrangement allows students the chance to experience life and learning in a college environment.
LKDSB Policy on Dual Credit
Dual Credits are not to be considered an entitlement program. Students enrolled in a secondary school need to be approved by the Student Success Team following guidelines established by the Ministry of Education and the Lambton Kent District School Board.
Students targeted for participation in a Dual Credit program include disengaged and under-achieving students with the potential to succeed as well as SHSM students and OYAP students.
Completed application forms must be returned to your secondary school for consideration by the school's Student Success Team.
What makes a student eligible?
Students must be identified by their high school student success team as eligible for the program. Students who are enrolled in full or half-day co-op have the necessary flexibility in their timetables to allow for participation in this program (allows students to negotiate their mandatory co-op work hours with employers). Students who are not enrolled in co-op should speak to their guidance counsellor to see if their current timetable allows for enough flexibility to participate in this program.
What does it cost?
The student pays nothing. All books, transportation and other associated costs are covered.
How do I apply?
The Lambton Kent District School Board has partnered with Lambton College and St. Clair College. Course offerings for both colleges are listed below. Interested students should submit a completed application form to their high school student services office for consideration by the school's student success team.
