TLK/LKEO POSTINGS
Please note that this new mid year process was implemented in January 2002 and was established in partnership by the Lambton Kent District School Board and the Elementary Teachers Federation. There are now postings circulating that are a combination of TLK Teaching and LKEO Long Term Occasional. The new format of the combined posting is designed to capture all candidates at the same time to meet all three scenarios in order to meet timelines in an expeditious manner.
The Mid Year Process is as follows:
Scenario 1:
The posting is being offered firstly to current permanent elementary teachers who are now eligible to apply for a permanent vacancy which would commence in September 2008.
Scenario 2:
Should a current permanent elementary teacher be successful, this leaves the posted position vacant until the end of June of the same school year as a long term occasional position. Therefore, a current occasional teacher who has taught a minimum of 20 elementary occasional days is eligible to apply to the TLK/LKEO posting and the position is filled as a long term occasional until the end of June.
Scenario 3
Should the position not be filled by a current permanent elementary teacher, then the posting is open to all external candidates (which includes all LKDSB occasional teachers; elementary occasionals who have 20 days as well as those who have less than 20 days, all secondary occasionals, and other external qualified teachers). The successful candidate would be the new permanent elementary contract teacher for said position and the start date would be current.
Therefore, it is necessary that you apply to the TLK/LKEO posting as the permanent vacancy will only be posted one time and your application is now being considered for a potential permanent position or a potential long term occasional position dependent upon which scenario transpires. If being invited in for an interview, you will be notified at that time whether your interview is for permanent or long term occasional based on the above scenarios.
