Queen’s University Mini Enrichment Program: Register on line Feb 11, 2008 (for week 1 if you choose to go with our group) If you require financial assistance, there is a bursary application on line. It must be submitted by February 1, 2008.

Odyssey of the Mind Provincial Competition will be hosted by L.C.C.V.I on March 29, 2008. Is your team registered? World competition will be at the University of Maryland.

Classroom enrichment materials are available for grade 9 and 10 Math, Science and English. These can be used for regular classroom enrichment or as part of learning contracts related to Independent Study. See your resource teacher for more information.

Students interested in writing an AP exam (Advanced Placement)University course must give written notice along with a cheque for $85.00 to their resource teacher by March 1, 2008.

ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Enrichment committees have been established at the high schools and are organizing activities/workshops related to a broad range of interests. If you are interested in becoming part of a committee, please contact your enrichment contact teacher. These committees meet on a regular basis.

A unique enrichment experience for high school students of exceptional potential. From architecture and the environment to science fiction and virtual reality, grade 11 students spend a week exploring the theme of Design . The grade 10 program’s interdisciplinary focus involves everything from eyesight, and imagination to fine art and flight.

The E=mc2 program provides gifted and highly motivated secondary students with the opportunity to study a subject of their choosing at an advanced level for one week. Approximately 1000 students from across Canada and the United States come together each year experiencing an outstanding combination of academics, residence life and extra-curricular activities. We have 50 spots reserved for week one.

Ontario Science Centre School

The Ontario Science Centre Science School presents students with an opportunity to gain University Preparation science credits during an enriched semester at the Ontario Science Centre. Students acquire a solid academic background in classes that are small and informal with experienced, enthusiastic and imaginative teachers in a unique and challenging environment. Students choose three of the following: Biology SBI4U, Chemistry SCH4U, Physics SPH4U, Advanced Functions MHF4U (First Semester ONLY) Calculus and Vectors MCV4U (Second Semester ONLY)

Impromptu Competition

CKSS, Chatham Sat. March 1, 2008

An impromptu design competition is an applied science competition where teams compete against each other to make the best solution to an engineering problem using the materials provided. This competition requires no preparation from the team besides signing up before the deadline. Tentative date is Saturday, March 1, 2008. Your team will need to register two weeks in advance. Faculty of Medicine’s Youth Summer Program

The Faculty of Medicine’s Youth Summer Program offers high school students an exclusive glimpse into the world of medicine and medical research at the University of Toronto. This residential program is available during 4 different weeks this summer (each with a slightly different focus). This replaces the program formerly known as The Helix Project.

Faculty of Law’s Youth Summer Program

This exciting and unique one-week program gives high school students an extraordinary glimpse into the reality of criminal law. Participants step into the shoes of a criminal lawyer and learn what it is like to be a student at one of Canada’s most prestigious law school.
