Castles

1. Explain different methods of defending the castle from attack. Evaluate which you would consider most effective and defend your decision.

2. Illustrate how a castle owner could prepare a plan to provide food and water during a siege lasting up to one year.

3. Compare your meals with those eaten in a castle. Design a menu for the meals served during a day in a castle.

4. In a castle that is constantly under attack, prepare a work schedule for the 120 guards that would ensure that the look-outs were always well-rested, well-fed and alert.

5. If you were to prepare a meal in the castle kitchen, what things would you find different from those in your own kitchen?

6.Using your own original blueprints, construct a model of your ultimate castle.

8.Describe the various occupations which you would most likely find in a castle. Which would you most like to do? Explain.

9.Explain how the invention of gun powder might change the design of a castle.

10.Design and construct a Castle and Knights Trivia centre for your classroom. 

11. Compare your home with that of a castle which was built in Medieval times. Which would you most like to live in?

12.Develop a dictionary of words which are commonly used when discussing castles and medieval times. ex. jousting, chateau, catapult, crusades, turrets. 

13. Develop a board game which depicts one of the following: the steps a boy must complete to become a knight, the building of a castle, defending a castle under seige.

14. Sculpt a dragon using clay or another medium. Create a Pet Care Guide to accompany your dragon with recommendations for proper dragon care.

15. Women were taught sewing and weaving and had no rights. If a woman did not bear a child, the husband could divorce her! Was that right? Explain your opinion.

16. Checkers and chess were very popular hobbies in castles. Research to discover who played these games, where they originated and the rules for playing.
